I updated my Webshot’s account!! I’d been having real problems with this – but I finally messed about with my internet settings (something to do with a proxy server) and now it works!!! I’m quite excited about it, so look forward (or not) to loads more photo’s in the near future!

Well, I’ve spent most of today playing with my blog. I’ve added a new template – which I think looks good, and I hope you do too. I’ve also signed up for blogrolling, and after almost five hours – I’m quite happy with the results.
Yesterday was my last day in Uni for that block. As from Monday I’ll be back on the Antenatal and Postnatal wards (which I love!), and I’ll only be in University one day a week. I’m really looking forward to this placement, and I’m actually feeling quite motivated about the two essays and portfolio that I have to complete this term.
I’ve also been looking into going to the US or Canada for my elective placement next year. The University have given me the go-ahead, but basically it’s up to me to organise everything and make sure that it meets their standards for practical experience. I’ve found a few potential birth centres that I would like to visit, but then there’s things like Visas, travel arrangements, lodgings, passports and so on to sort out. It’s do-able, but I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed at the moment because I don’t know what to sort out first.
There’s no point me getting a passport if I can’t get a visa to go there – but I can’t get a visa without a passport.
Likewise the birth centres can’t accept me without a visa, but I can’t apply for a visa without knowing where I’ll be based.
And then there’s the cost – but I try not to think about that!
TAME Progress
I’ve updated my website with the latest picture of ‘Through a Mother’s Eyes’ that I’m working on for my Mum and Dad as a thank you present for organising (and paying for!) the wedding. I’m getting a bit concerned that I’m not going to finish it though!
Yesterday I also took two completed pieces (Stretch and Three Rabbits) to be framed. Altogether it’s going to cost me £148!!! But that includes lacing and everything, and it’ll all be conservation grade work – so I’m trying to see it as an investment.
After going to the framers, I went to my parents to take them a present – this was Newt’s idea. As they’ve helped up out so much, financially and with the wedding and everything, we decided to buy them a Freeview box so that they can watch Digital TV but without having to pay a subscription.
We managed to set it up without too much hassle – and even to connect it to the video. They’re usually pretty resistant to new technology – even Channel 4 was a mystery in our house for several years! So I was expecting them to be grateful, but not that excited. Boy – was I wrong!! My dad thought it was absolutely fantastic (mind you, he had just got back from the pub!), and my mum called me later in the evening to tell me they were watching something on UK History and it was really great and “Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!”.
I think I earned myself some major ‘good daughter’ points there!
