Wish List
Spent an hour or so updating my wish list today, which was fun! Although I think I can hear my credit card pleading for mercy.
Have had quite a nice, peaceful day today. I went to see the vicar to swear the affadavit for my special license for the wedding – so that’s one more thing sorted out. Then I watched Tim Henman get through to the last sixteen of the French Open. Go Tim!!!!
Better day than yesterday anyway. I must have eaten something icky – because I was rather ill yesterday. I’m all better today, apart from my stomach and chest muscles really ache. I never knew that you used so many muscles to throw up!

Oh no! This is not good! I have to admit to liking Nickleback as well. But as I pointed out to the blokey who sent me this link – I think the same thing would work for many bands. Generic music formulation of very boring, predictable chord progressions. And all this from a conversation where my DBF ended up blaming Elvis Presley for the atrosity that is Avril Levine’s music (do you think I should admit to his friends that I like her as well?……)

Well – everything’s finished!!!!! I handed an essay and a portfolio in on Monday, and did a horrible exam. Then on Tuesday I handed my final essay in. I don’t think they’re as good as they could be – but hey ho.
Since then, I haven’t really been doing a great deal. Took cats to vets, had coffee with friends, pottered around the house, played on the internet…that’s about it.
I still have all my invitations to make, but I think I’ll make a start on those next week.

OK – an update already. (Really it’s just more procrastination but anyway….)
I phoned my tutor (don’t know why this idea didn’t occur to me before) and she never got the email – stupid Bill Gates – I’m sure it must be his fault somehow.
Anyway she asked me to resend it, and she’s already replied saying she’ll look at it straightaway, and get back to me tonight! I could just kiss her!
So now, if I can finish the other essay tonight, I can finish that one and my portfolio tomorrow, which leaves me sunday to revise.

More about essays….
OK – so I’m seriously starting to get a bit worried about these essays. The tutor for the ethics essay hasn’t got back to me, and I think it’s fair to say that she’s not going to before the weekend! So I have a dilemma. I wanted to finish all my essays, and hand them in on Monday – but the deadline for this ethics one isn’t until Thursday. So do I finish it and hand it in on Monday, and risk her getting back to me next week and coming up with loads of improvements I could make. Or do I wait, and risk not finishing it in time, and prolonging my stress?
Aaarrgghhhh!
Then there’s all the other work that I really, really have to do, but just can’t bring myself to! I’ve no excuse. DBF is away tonight, so my only distraction is Derren Brown on channel 4 at 10pm. Should really be able to get stuff finished tonight. I’ll let you know how I get on.

Well, just got back from the garage after picking the car up – and it didn’t need ANY work doing at all!! Just a regular service and MOT, so I’m very, very happy!
I also picked up some fruit and stuff from the supermarket on the way back, and I’m on a bit of a smoothie making frenzy! Just had a banana one – yummy!
Really must get down to doing some work now!

Well, quite a successful day today. Went for a coffee with a friend this morning, which was nice – good to get out of the house. We also had a quick look arounds Debenhams, and they had 10% off the perfume I wanted to get for the wedding – so I bought that, and because I spent more than £50, I got a free dressing gown and slippers – bargain!
Then I had to drop the car off at the garage, and while walking home, I popped into a clothes shop on the way, and managed to pick up an outfit for my friend’s wedding in June. I would take a photo – but it’s quite tricky to take a picture of yourself! But it’s a sort of chiffon top and skirt, bias cut with frilly bits at the bottom, in a pale bluey-greeny-grey. And even better I have a couple of pairs of shoes that look OK with it. I think I’ll still look for some new ones – but at least I don’t have to panic if I can’t find any.
Haven’t done any work yet today – but who needs to write essays when you have fancy perfume and a new outfit!

Oh my – they’ve updated the Blogger site! This will take my tiny brain some getting used to!
Anyway, now I’ve managed to log in – a bit about my day. Should be writing essays of course, and I have made a start on my Pathophysiology one today. It’s on Preterm Premature Rupture of Membranes – and I’ve already got a lot of references, and written up my case study, so hopefully it should just be a question of putting it in some kind of coherent order!
My ethics essay is virtually done – just neees a couple of paragraphs adding about midwifery things, but before I do that I was hoping that my tutor might have chance to look over the draft to see if I’m on the right lines. (But I have a horrid feeling I may have left it too late for that!)
Then there’s my portfolio. I had kind of convinced myself that this was almost finished – but it’s not really. I have to pull out four specific pieces of evidence for marking, and when I decide what these are they’ll all need a bit of tweaking and completely reformatting, and I just know it’s going to take longer than I think!
And then the exam – oh that’s really not good! Haven’t started revising at all really. I think I can blag some bits already, and the stats part should be OK. It’s just all the rest – quantatative, qualitative, paragims, ethnography (?) and all the rest. I’m kidding myself that in writing my essays I’m also memorisig some details about the studies I’m including (but I’m kidding myself really).
My exciting moment of the day though – I made my first ever tranatlantic call to a Birth Centre in the US where I’m hoping to do my elective placement. Don’t want to say too much too soon – but it looks promising, so keep your fingers crossed for me!
And then there’s the car. I thought my MOT was due in May, so I thought I’d dig out the paperwork and book a service as well. When I find my form, it actually turns out that the MOT was due in February!!! Oooooops. So the car is going in tomorrow!

The Stitcher’s Five
1. Which type of beads do you prefer Mill Hill, Delica or other brand?
Don’t really have a preference – I’ll use whatever’s called for. Although, I have seen some lovely looking beads by Gutterman (the thread people) that I’ve been dying to try.
2. Why?
The Gutterman one’s just look lovely – and better packaging than Mill Hill – I always lose more than I use with them!
3. What do you use to stitch beads on with?
Oh the eternal question. I really don’t know. I tried some of that invisible thread on one piece and I HATED it. I thought it looked far too thick and horrid. Since then, I’ve used ordinary DMC, though I have toyed with the idea of using regular sewing thread.
4. When to bead..as you go or at the end?
At the end. Or else they get caught in my hoop.
5. Do you bead only with cross stitch or do you use them on their own?
Only with cross stitch so far. Though I do have a pattern for a mini-cushion that’s just beads.
