Still not much happening here

December 2nd, 2005

I haven’t been around recently because I’ve been on nights, and the drive home is a nightmare – took two hours the other day, whereas when I’m on days it’s only half an hour. Stupid lazy businessmen – why can’t they get the train? I can’t get the train because it doesn’t run at the ridiculous times I need to be at work, but there’s no way I’d drive into Leeds for 9am if I didn’t have to to go home and sleep!

Other than that – I went to work’s Christmas do on Wednesday, which was great, and I’m off to a wedding on Saturday, and then another Christmas do on Tuesday. Newt and I are also off to the cinema tonight to see Harry Potter, and we’ll probably also eat out as well, because it’s been a while since we’ve done that.

Last weekend I went to the Knitting and Stitching Show in Harrogate and met up with a few BB friends. I did lots of fondling of yarn, but managed to get away with just buying some shimmer and fur yarn for a scarf (really quick to make – pics will follow soon) and some baby alpaca yarn for yet another scarf – it’s the softest thing imaginable, but I can’t start it until Newt’s Dr Who scarf is finished.

My Grandma is in hospital at the moment. She broke her leg badly a couple of weeks ago and had to have it pinned and plated (or whatever it is they do). But now she’s been moved to another hospital for a skin graft (not sure why….), but at the moment she can’t have that done because she’s having a blood transfusion (again, not sure why….). I went to see her about a week ago, and she seemed pretty well, but she’s not eating well because she doesn’t really like the food, or forgets to fill her menu card in etc etc, and not eating isn’t really helping the healing process. Sadly this means that she’s going to miss my graduation – again! Well, I’ve told her that I’m not going back to Uni again – she’ll just have to settle for the DVD version! Hopefully she’ll be out for Christmas, although they’re talking about sending her to some kind of intermediary rehab-type ward first, but I’ve no idea when this will be.
