OK, back to normal then

December 27th, 2005

I’ve been trying to upgrade to the latest version of MT for several days. First of all couldn’t ftp stuff because of our firewall (except that I didn’t know it stopped you doing this, so that took a while to sort out). Then it all seemed to work but I kept getting error messages. Finally gave up and went back to Blogger. Then thanks to the lovely people at the MT forums, re-uploaded one small (but apparently crucial file) and now all is well.

This version of MT has better spam protection built in, but it may take me a while to tweak it, so if some of your comments are rejected, I apologise – but please drop me an email so I can sort it out. I’m still undecided as to whether MT is worth all the hassle of hosting it myself, when I almost certainly don’t make use of all the functionality of it. But for now, it’s set up, it’s working – so I’m sticking with it. However we’re planning on moving webhosts soon as well, so I expect that will cause no end of hassles as well.

On a brighter note, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas. I haven’t had my ‘proper’ Christmas yet, but I did get G4′s latest CD from Newt, and although I had to work on Christmas Day I had a lovely delivery and spent all shift with a really nice family, so it wasn’t so bad at all. Newt is off visiting his parents for a few days, so it’s just me and the cats for now, and they’re very grumpy because it’s too cold for them to stay out for long.
