Lovely day out

September 9th, 2007

We had a lovely family day out today. Normally we’re pretty rubbish and disorganised, and by the time we get our act together, it’s too late to do anything. Not today!

We’d decided we were going to go out somewhere, and settled on Lyme Park, famous as ‘Pemberley’ in the BBC’s adaptation of Pride and Prejudice where Mr D’arcy is seen swimming in the lake. Yummy. So, anyway, all thoughts of Mr D’arcy put to one side – we set off, with Sally the SatNav showing us the way.

She got us there safely, and it was even a heritage open day, so entry was free.  However we’d already decided to join the National Trust, and when we signed up, we got three months free.  Bargain.

We wandered round the house – must remember to take the Baby Bjorn next time though, because Evie is just too big and wriggly to carry for extended periods.  Then we wandered round the gardens.  We had lunch and later on had afternoon tea.  All very civilised.

More Saturdays out are definitely on the agenda.
