My microwave exploded!

November 30th, 2007

It couldn’t just stop working and die in a quiet sort of way could it! I was reheating the Veggie Baby’s lunch yesterday and it went ‘POP’ and started smoking.  “Not good” I thought.  So I tried it again, and it went ‘POP’ and carried on smoking.  After the third POP my kitchen was starting to smell a bit, so I decided that it really had given up and died.

So after getting Veggie Baby weighed at baby clinic – she now weighs 16lb 14oz – we pottered over to Comet to buy a new microwave.  I never used it before Evie came along, I only had one because we inherited it from my Grandma (who also never used it) and we just never got rid of it.  However, I have found that it’s quite useful for defrosting and reheating small quantities of baby food that would just be lost in a pan.  So after messing about trying to defrost her lunch in bowls of hot water, I decided that I do need a new one.

Unfortunately when I got to Comet, the choice was ridiculous.  Combination grills, digital ones, integrated ones and all kinds of fancy stuff.  I just want a plain and simple one that doesn’t do anything fancy, and won’t take up too much space.  Eventually I chose this one.  It’s actually almost identical to our old one, except the old one was green (so I’m quite glad to be rid of it really) and this one is a lovely silver.

Anyway, Veggie Daddy plugged it in, and it works, and it’s actually a little bit smaller than the old one, so that’s a plus. So we’re all back to normal again now.
