Merry Christmas

December 27th, 2007

Merry Christmas everyone!! I hope you all had a great time. I think that the Veggie Baby enjoyed her first Christmas. Here’s her advent calender (well, one of them), you get a different little statue each day to make up the nativity scene.

The amount of presents we had was absolutely ridiculous!

In total she got (wait for it)…

  • A coathanger personalised with her name
  • A Wobble Toddle Ride (that’s too big for her really)
  • Some stacking cups
  • An activity frog
  • An activity elephant
  • A Rainmaker (she loves this)
  • A Taggies blanket
  • Some keys that play tunes and sounds
  • A Kipper book with a toy Kipper and blanket
  • Two wooden jigsaws
  • Wooden blocks in a trolley
  • Book – That’s not my penguin
  • Book – Twinkle the Fairy
  • Submarine for her bath
  • Some fish with a net for her bath
  • Finger puppets (OK, so I guess they’re more for me to play with)
  • A Fuzzy Felt book
  • Robeez bootees like Ugg boots (kind of)
  • Book – Baby’s First Christmas

Christmas Dinner

It was also my first time cooking Christmas dinner, my mum made a chicken and pigs in blankets for the non-veggie people, and I did a Quorn roast and all the veggies. Although I did need help with roast potatoes. For lunch we had leek and potato soup, and so Veggie Baby had Leek, Potato and Pea puree from the Annabel Karmel book. For dinner I made sprouts, peas, mashed and roast potatoes, carrots and parsnips, so Veggie Baby had parsnips, swede and carrot (because this was the closest thing I had in the freezer and she couldn’t have our veggies because I’d cooked them with salt). For pudding, she had prune and apple puree with yogurt, because this was the closest thing to Christmas pudding I could think of. Although we didn’t manage to have Christmas pudding because by the time I remembered to put it on, and had a hob free it wouldn’t have been ready until midnight! So I think we’ll have it on New Year’s Eve. On the whole, I was really pleased with how it went, and it wasn’t as bad as I’d thought it was going to be, although i didn’t actually sit down properly until 9pm, so I was a little tired on Boxing Day.

There are loads more photos in the Christmas album in Gallery. We also took some video footage, so we’ll have to work out how to get that up on You Tube or something, so that you can see Evie opening her presents.
