My poor back!

January 20th, 2009

I’ve done something horrible to my back.  Well, not sure if it’s my back, my hip or my pelvis.  Whatever it is, it hurts.  A lot.

I did go to see the doctor, and he said I’d trapped my sciatic nerve, but I’m not so sure.  I don’t seem to have that ‘shooting down the leg’ pain that I should have.  Anyway, in a bid to kill or cure it, I decided that a trip to the Trafford Centre was a good idea.  Half a mile from Debenhams to John Lewis, sit down for lunch, half a mile back again. Plus pottering about in shops.  Sadly, it did not cure me!  I’m fine when i’m sitting down, or lying on my right side.  Walking hurts, carrying stuff is impossible, and I have to crawl upstairs like Evie does (except she’s faster than me, and thinks it’s hilarious).

Anyway, Trafford Centre was fun.  We didn’t take the buggy, so Evie walked halfway down, then we hired one of the Little Tikes cars for her.  When she was walking she thought it was fantastic.  It was quiet enough early on that she didn’t always have to hold my hand, so she got to choose where to go.  So she went to the Bear Factory, the Disney Store, a gadget shop that had a flying helicopter and some pigs that walked and oinked (actually we went there three times).  She also found her way into an art store where she showed her appreciation of a picture of a big cow by cuddling it and trying to give it her bracelet.  My mum was watching her at that point, and didn’t grab her fast enough.  Ooops.  The only minor disaster was having to give the car back.  She sobbed and sobbed as though her little world had come to an end.  But then we went in the big glass lift and all was well again.

I managed to get a new digital camera at Jessops, and I’m really happy with it.  It’s another Fuji Finepix, but this time with a Lithium battery (because that was the problem with the old one).  And obviously because it’s newer it’s got more features and stuff on it.  I’ve been playing with it a little bit, but I think Gallery’s gone wrong again, so I need Newt to sort that out (again!) before I can share photos.

Sounds like a fun day out at the Trafford Centre – what a great place. Evie is such a sweetheart with her love of animals :) Look forward to seeing pics with your new camera. And hope the pain goes away soon!
