About me

I’m Rachel Newport (was Smethurst until I got married), and I live in Oldham – a small town just outside Manchester in the North West of England. I live with my husband Newt, our two cats – Holly and Tiswas, and my two gorgeous children – Evie (born May 2007) and Henry (September 2009).

I grew up in Oldham, but then lived in Leeds for 12 years while I went to University (twice) and worked as a Civil Servant for the Deparment of Health. I left the Department of Health to go back to University to become a Midwife. I”m now a hospital midwife, but I think I probably want to move into research at some point.

I now only work very part-time, and the rest of my time is taken up looking after small kiddlywinks.  If I do get spare time, I love knitting and stitching, and maybe some baking as well.
