I’m Rachel Newport (was Smethurst until I got married), and I live in Oldham – a small town just outside Manchester in the North West of England. I live with my husband Newt, our two cats – Holly and Tiswas, and from May 2007, with our new baby.

I grew up in Oldham, but then lived in Leeds for 12 years while I went to University (twice) and worked as a Civil Servant for the Deparment of Health. I left the Department of Health to go back to University to become a Midwife. I”m now a hospital midwife, but I”m about to go on maternity leave very soon.

When I”m not working stupid shifts, I like reading – there will be a page of books read and to read eventually. I also like cross stitching and have recently discovered knitting. There are photos of finished stuff on my gallery.
