What I did yesterday….

May 7th, 2005

while I should have been writing essays

I was just too tired, and in too much of a bad mood to do anything remotely productive on my portfolio, and I wasn’t really in the mood for stitching Wildlife of the Hedgerow – fancied doing something a bit smaller. So I started one of the Victoria Sampler ornament kits – number 1.3 which is Rhodes stitch. I wouldn’t normally take a WIP picture of something so small, but I’m trying to understand better how the digicam works, and the way things are at the moment, it could be ages before I get time to work on it again!

Then late last night a friend (S) phoned asking if I wanted to go to her mum’s birthday party tonight. Newt’s going out with the lads, and I haven’t been out for ages, or seen S for quite a while, so I told her I’d go. Now I just need to decide whether I’m going to be good and drive there and back, or whether I’m going to have a few drinks and get a taxi….

WIP Progress

April 4th, 2005

Here’s my progress on Wildlife of the Hedgerow as of last night. The photo’s a bit rubbish, and it’s very creased – but it’s the best I can manage at the moment. Slow progress, mainly due to the takeover of my leisure time by Emperor. But as that’s now banned, you might see a little more progress next month. I’ve also amended the code for the sidebar so that should update semi-automatically when I have a new WIP pic – but MT also seems to be a little unhappy about a plugin, so it may not work at all.

Teddy Wizard

January 6th, 2005

My latest progress on my Teddy Wizard WIP. I know it’s a bit (alright, a lot) cutesy – but I like it!
I’ve been working on this since I finished Through a Mother’s Eyes, and I seem to be making reasonable progress. (And now I’ve managed to find an adaptor for my digital camera, taking photos is a lot less hassle, so I can post more regular updates.)

It’s finished!

December 20th, 2004

Through a Mother’s Eyes is finally finished!!! I finished it late last night whilst watching the Horse of the Year Show. I started it way back in May 2002 when Newt and I got engaged, with the main aim of finishing it by the wedding in September 2004 to give to my parents as a thank you for all their help with the wedding. However, I’m slower than I thought, and University got in the way, and it’s only just now finished.

Unfortunately I haven’t got time to get it framed before Christmas, but I intend to do that in early January. I just hope my parents like it now!!

TAME progress

December 2nd, 2004

I’ve been working on this quite a bit over the last couple of months – and it’s nearly finished!!! (Click on the thumbnail to see a larger image). This has been a WIP since I got engaged in May 2003, and it’s for my mum to say thanks for organising (and paying for!) the wedding. I did want to finish it in time for the wedding, but that didn’t happen, so now I’m hoping to finish it for her birthday in April. I might even get in finished in time for Christmas – but I doubt that there’ll be time for framing. I’ll keep you posted.

If you were to stitch something to be passed on to future generations of your family as an heirloom, what would it be and why?

I’d quite like most of my larger pieces to be passed on – simply because of the amount of time I’ve put into them. However, if I had to pick a single piece – I’d probably choose something like TW’s Millenium Sampler, or a sampler to commemmorate the Queen’s Golden Jubilee (I do have a kit – just not started yet!), or maybe the piece that I’m doing for my mum for my wedding. So something that has a symbolic value beyond just the cross stitch. I like to think that possibly in years to come someone will be able to say “Oh yes, my great-grandma stitched that for her wedding / the millenium / the Golden Jubilee etc”.

Cross Stitch Links

Cross Stitch Links

Spent some time today adding cross stitch links to my website. Should make it easier to find things that I like, rather than searching through my list of favourites that’s as long as your arm!

Not a great deal else happening around here. I really, really should be making invitations, but I just can’t get motivated to do it. Maybe tomorrow……

Wish List

Wish List

Spent an hour or so updating my wish list today, which was fun! Although I think I can hear my credit card pleading for mercy.

Have had quite a nice, peaceful day today. I went to see the vicar to swear the affadavit for my special license for the wedding – so that’s one more thing sorted out. Then I watched Tim Henman get through to the last sixteen of the French Open. Go Tim!!!!

Better day than yesterday anyway. I must have eaten something icky – because I was rather ill yesterday. I’m all better today, apart from my stomach and chest muscles really ache. I never knew that you used so many muscles to throw up!

New Stash

April 5th, 2004

I mentioned on the TWBB that I’ve been in a bit of a stitching slump recently. I think it’s a combination of having to work on Through a Mother’s Eyes to try to finish it before the wedding, and being so busy with University stuff that I just don’t have the spare time to do a lot of stitching. Anyway, I thought I might do a small project to get myself back in the mood, and so I’ve been very bad, and I’ve been doing some online shopping at Paw Prints.

I bought:
Just Nan – High Hopes and Jump for Joy (scroll down the page)
Chatelaine – Mini Mandelas (again, you’ll have to scroll

I’m pretty sure I’ll have the fabric to do these on, and hopefully it’ll get me out of my slump, and also give me some 2004 finishes!!

Little Rach’s Photo Album :: Works in Progress :: 9

My latest progress on ‘Through a Mother’s Eyes’. I’m really not convinced I’m going to finish this by the end of August. It just seems that lately I don’t have the time to work on it – or if I do have the time, then I’m just too tired! Oh well, I’ll just have to keep at it, and if it’s not finished, then it’s not finished, and I’ll just have to give it to my mum late!
